Audience Response to 'LOSER'

***** Memorable 18 Aug 2005
reviewer: Tom Q, USA

I left the fringe yesterday, and the one play that stuck with me more than any (including the exceptional "Midsummer from the East") was "Loser." I had a few quibbles, but I just can't stop thinking about the show. Most impressive was the use of abstract movement to express emotion without it ever becoming modern dancey. I certainly wish I had a program - I'd love to know more about this company.

**** Beautiful 13 Aug 2005
reviewer: Nick Fieldsend, United Kingdom

This is a beautiful piece of physical dance theatre. Very DV8 in style with a spanish twist, fire and soul music. If you're a total theatre junky you will love Loser.

**** Moving 28 Aug 2005
reviewer: J. Violet, United Kingdom

This was a simple and moving piece of physical theatre. Straightforward ideas surrounded by an interesting and workable set. This piece worked because it was deeply rooted in truth and real human emotion, and it didn't try to be anything more. The Loser reference baffled me at first as well - but I think I am safe to say that the term "Loser" started with one meaning, but then shifted to mean that the two friends at the end were losers - they had lost their friend. A deeply poignant and inventive production.

*** Interesting 17 Aug 2005
reviewer: Fiona Orr, Northants

This is an interesting piece, the actors were all very very good, a huge amount of passion. Maybe 1 too many metaphors but overall a good play, good music and moving in places.
